Convienant store software? Cash register software in particular.

I was chatting with a freind who runs a Health food shop, and we began to discuss IT stuff. She recenty had a company install a machine that was directly connected to her cash register and would deduct items from her inventory as they were sold. Does linux have an equivilent? All my google searches come up with windows software and I was wondering if any one could point me in the right direction by perhaps telling me a better term to search. I have tried Linux+register+software and Linux+"cash register"+software. Any help would be great. Any help is appreciated.

There are many accounting programs but I question whether they
can do cash register. Nevertheless, you can look around in

http://www.websamba.com/Linux_Docs_Link
-> softwares
-> accounting

Someone else help?!

Thanx. POS is the terminology I was looking for and I will be checking that link out after this post.

FreshMeat...one stop shopping

I went looking thru 'Freshmeat' site-couldn't find anything that exactly matches your requirements, but then again, my search was cursory. This is, however, a vertually bottomless repository of apps., so someone with a more determined effort may well find just the thing. Anyhoo, here is their link:

http://freshmeat.net/

Give it a try, and good luck.
