converting wma to mp3

Is there any linux program that will convert a wma file to an mp3 ? Do I have to do this in Windows? Also what is a good CD player for Linux?

You can use any audio player that has the WMA codec. Then use the program's diskwriter plug-in. This will put it into a WAV file but you can use mpg3enc (I think) to make an mp3. Though you will lose more sound information going from WMA to mpg3.

IMO, OGG files sound better than mpg3.

I wouldnt recommend converting between lossy formats. You end up with a really crappy sound.

It would be better to spend the time re-ripping from your CDs.

I like OGG too, you should use that.
