converting ppt to pdf

when i convert ppt to pdf in openoffice, the pdf file is created just fine except that certain non standard symbols appear as squares, how do I solve this problem?

the symbols that I am trying to convert is the logic symbols OR, AND, CONDITIONALS and BICONDITIONALS, etc

Where did you get the symbols used in the document ?

Was this presentation originally created in Powerpoint or Impress ?

If you just need a pdf, you can always print to PDF, rather than converting it to PDF in OpenOffice.

Hmm, since it was created in MS Office on a Windows machine... are the ms True Type core fonts installed on your Linux box ?

Code:

debianetch:~# aptitude search fonts | grep ms

i  msttcorefonts                  - Installer for Microsoft TrueType core font

The only thing I can think of is that you are missing the fonts it wants to use.. what those are I couldn't tell you..
you could always edit the replace the bullet points, with bullets from a font on your Linux box.
