Convert .rm video to some other format?...

hello...i've searched this forum for similar questions, but can't seem to find what i'm looking for...

i have several .rm video files that i'd like to convert to .avi or .mpg or, well, *anything* besides .rm...

I'm running x86 Kubuntu 5.10 with most multimedia programs/codecs installed (including KMplayer, so i can view the files as of right now, but the playback leaves much to be desired)...

anybody know how i could go about converting?...thanks in advance...
