Using SUSE Linux 10.0 I would like to make CD's from existing MP# files. I would like the CD's to play in any CD Player. Can you tell me what I need to do this???

Easiest way is to use k3b to create an audio cd. Provided you have mp3 support for k3b it's as simple as drag and drop.

I tried k3b, but it told me that P3's were not supported. How can I find a version that supports MP3's?

If you want them to play in any cd player you will need to convert the mp3's back to WAV files and then burn them. Only mp3 capable CD players will play mp3 cds.

You need to install the package k3b-mad to add mp3 support to k3b.

Yes, BUT, k3b can make two types of cds (ok it can make more types, but for this particular purpose I only need to explain these two basic ideas)

1) a data cd: you put mp3s on the data cd and reproduce them on an mpr compatilble cd player. Mp3 support isn't necessary as all files are treated as raw data.

2) an audio cd: this is where mp3 support comes in so k3b can decode the mp3's to something a standard cd player can read if burned onto a cd.

If you want to convert files from one audio format to another, take a look at 'perl Audio Converter' at http://pacpl.sourceforge.net/

will also burn and rip CDs, extract audio from video, etc etc etc
