Connexant module deleted on reboot Mandrake 9.1

I have installed hcfpcimodem-1.00lnxt03112100free_k2.4.21_0.13mdk-1mdk.i586.rpm.zip

It works fine, except when I reboot and try to run KPPP, then it says it can't find the modem. I have looked and the module has been deleted. I run hcfpciconfig and it works again. What is deleting the module? Or maybe it is something different?
