Connection to Oracle database

Hey all.
I have to connect to a Oracle database server. I tried some clients, sqlplus and Aqua datastudio.
But the clients required a TNS set. Hot to do that. I know only that TNS is DNS like system.
There are no many results in Google.

Can anybody help me?

Hi, if Oracle is installed correctly (with defaults)
you should be able to find the file: $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora

There should be a sample file in or around this directory
to show exapmple entries.
There is also a Network configuration tool,,, but I do not use it.

Finally, oracle documentation is posted on OTN ( otn.oracle.com)
regards.

I've used sqlplus for quite some time now. All I had to do, is:
-get the oracle drivers
-set some environment variables, like $ORACLE_SID and $ORACLE_HOME.

Can you please give some more details on this TNS that you claim is required
to run sqlplus?
