Connecting remotely to VirtualBox display - how to send ctrl-alt-del?
 

My head is spinning after a morning playing with the Remote Display feature of VirtualBox.

I have a Windows 7 guest in a VBox on a CentOS 6 host. I am connecting remotely from an OS X 10.6 machine.

I realize there are multiple ways I can connect to the VM on the Linux host. I have settled on the following for reasons of security.

ssh -Y <user>@<linux_box>
rdesktop -u <user> -p <password> 127.0.0.1:3389

This way everything is encrypted over ssh and passwords are safe.

Works perfectly, BUT if the guest VM is logged out, how do I send ctrl-alt-del from the Mac?

I would use the native OSX Microsoft RDC client. It maps ctrl-option-del to the PC counterpart. But I have to supply the LINUX login credentials in Preferences to connect to the VM, and I’m unsure of the security of my linux credentials.

Try control alt end keys.Be sure the focus is in the panel.

Some of the controls for remotes can be brought forward too and selected. Not sure what you see.
