Connect To Asterisk CLI as normal user

Hi,I'm trying to give a user rights to access the asterisk CLI(by executing asterisk -r)on a server.Asterisk was compiled and executed by root.Is there anyway to do this,or should i recompile asterisk(which i don't want to do).If i log in as root, everything is fine, but when i log in as normal user this happens

Code:
asterisk -r
-bash: asterisk: command not found
but a man asterisk will show that the command is there.I'm guessing i should change some permission setting somewehere?

Thanks for any help

Check out "sudo". With it you can allow unprivileged user to run commands as another user and restrict it to run only certain commands and certain arguments as well.
