Connect Samba server to Television

Hi,

I installed an old PentiumIII system as a samba server with Ubuntu 5.10. By installing this system i used the server option. Now i want to connect the server to my Television but i dont know how to configure this server to change resolution and Hz. I cant locate a xorg.conf or XFree86.conf file. Is it still possible to change resolution and Hz?

what on earth does a samba server installation have to do with X runing to a tv output??? please try and appreciate what is relevant and what is not. what *is* relevant is information about your graphics card, and you're said nothing about it whatsoever. what card? what form of output?

Its relevant because i think by using the the server option while installing Ubuntu i dont have X installed at all . The problem is that is asked the wrong question. Ill try it again:

If i install Ubuntu with the server option does it install X?
If yes, where can i find xorg.conf? If no, do i need to install before i can make some display changes?

The graphics card is a ATI RAGE128 Pro TV out.
The television only supports 800x600 @ 60Hz.

if you installed with the server option then there is no X-server installed
did you read the help before installing ubuntu?
do you have enough disk space to install X?
have you asked yourself these questions?

this command will install Gnome desktop
#sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

this command will install KDE desktop
#sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

this command will install Xfce4 desktop which is lighter than the other two
you may want to install this one is your PC is VERY old
#sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
