Conky disappears after I click anywhere else on desktop (HELP needed)

Hey guys,

I been having a weird issue with conky since I installed it. This is the line I have been editing:

# If own_window is yes, you may use type normal, desktop or override
own_window_type desktop

I would like to leave it as desktop so its not docked on top of other applications, however if I were to click an icon on my desktop, conky will close. Is there a way to keep it in desktop mode without having it just disappear? Here is my full .conkyrc file. Thanks in advance.

Hey can one of the moderators maybe move this to the newbie forum? I might have better luck getting a response there. Thanks!

So you can't just do:
Code:

own_window no
I'm guessing you're using nautilus ?

mlynch1985 05-07-2009 11:53 AM

yes I am using nautilus and things actually get much worse if own_window is set to no. everything starts taking turns disappearing.

There might be some hints on how to do it here:

That links is to a dead thread. One of the largest threads at UF is the mega thread for Conky, with 708 pages of nothing but pure conky help.

Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

and something new:

Conky Hardcore!

It's new, Conky Hardcore is NOT a forum, it's a blog with a difference. Comments are only allowed on the Welcoming page, you do NOT need to register unless you wish to make a comment, it's just a place where "uncertain" and I are collecting, HowTo's, Tips and Tricks, Scripts, Screenshots - with config files. It's new, so fairly heavily Debian based as we both use Debian based systems, but we'd like to see it become help for any distro.

All requests of a "How do I do ..." nature will be responded with a polite "Please check the forum help for your distribution."

If you have something "new" or a Tip or Trick that is not there, a script you'd like to share, a screenshot with your config file, please PM me.

Have a nice day.
Bruce
