Hi Folks,

Conky v1.7.1.1 has been released.

And of course it needs to be compiled. So I did a bit of reading to compile it for my use.

WELL!! Didn't I end up making my first ever deb package.

So if you are interested in the new features you can get my deb package at Conky Hardcore! - conky_1.7.1.1-1_amd64.deb No wireless though, I don't have it. Sorry.

Well, it was by accident, I was just trying to do a simple compile for my use, but ended up with a DEB. And someone told me that I didn't put the "dependencies" in it, so it's only good for me.

Oh well, this time I'll go for the full thing, although they say it's hard to do.

Always watch for "DEPENDENCIES" because lots of things depend on them...

Hi Alan,

Had to separate that first line. When I first read it I had to laugh. It is definitely "quotable" and should be one of the first statements in any HowTo for DEB/RPM packages.

Maybe so, but very well done. And it's OK, I'm too old to take things seriously so don't worry about it in the slightest.

I'll do better next time? I don't even know how I managed this one.

However I feel the attempt at #2 is very close - maybe today.

And win or loose I'll come back and give the results.

Ahhhhhh, now there's a statement that is so true.

When I was 6 and in grade 1: 5 x 4 was impossible, I was struggling with 1+1. Then came things like (a-squared) A2 + B2 = C2 and my first reaction was "Hey, is this math? What's with the letters?" and by that time 1+1 and 5x4 and a lot more, were things not even thought of.

So things are only hard until you learn them

I have to admit though, I'm still struggling with Einstein's Theory of Relativity and making DEB packages, but I will get at lest one of them before I go to that great computer in the sky.

I understand what you are saying, I felt the same way when I first got here. It changes after you've been here for a while, like any place. And my sister calls me the "Marco Polo" of the family - "Been there, done that - got the T-shirt!", so I know what I'm saying.

Amen to that, it's the most we can do.
