Configuring Thunar in Xfce4?

Hi friends

I know its just a small preference thing - but is there a simple way to stop the filenames being underlined when the mouse cursor hovers over the Thunar window icons?

The desktop is Xfce4, which is as it comes with PureDyne (Ubuntu-ish Debian-ish RT kernel distro built for sound and video recording / editing)

Installing Nautilus instead seems a bit of an over-reaction

Doesn't happen to me.

Maybe you have a different version? Have you checked the preferences?

Thunar->Edit->Preferences->Behaviour and change from "Single click to activate items" to "Double click to activate items".

That was the first place I went, to set it to single click. There was no tab that mentioned underlining.
Of course - it being Xfce, you have to double-click the desktop icon, no matter what. Single click then works for icons within the window.

Thunar comes with good reviews about being low impact on resources, and fast, etc. It looks very much like Nautilus on the face of it, though I dare say there are feature differences and capablilties.

I noticed that Konqueror, Dolphin, etc. don't select on mouse over, but only let you select if Ctrl or Shift is pressed. Otherwise, a left click opens the file and a right click selects a single file and opens the context menu.

Ahh .. that may be it! The underlining is more to do with automatically gaining focus before clicking, and the way it is displayed.

Hmm.. but then, why does it not happen to the other filers?

I am not normally one who is so picky about look and feel that I explore all the depths of mouse focus configuration. Some are darn clever, (like activating on the let-go)! I just think underlined text is ugly except where it has a very specific purpose. Even a colour-change-on-hover would have been better.
