Configuring spamassassin to work with Gmail

I'm running Ubuntu on my laptop. I use Kmail to send and receive my email, and filter it through Spamassassin. I want to set up my Gmail account so that it gets filtered through Spamassassin as well. I have Gmail set up with IMAP, but when I access my Inbox I don't see the Spamassassin label and the little spam level meter thingee like I do with my other email account.

How do I configure Spamassassin to work with Gmail?

I'm unsure as to why you need to use spamassasin with gmail?

Getting spam via a gmail account is extremely rare and probably the most compelling reason to use the Google account.

Resurrecting an old thread but anyway, you can spamassassin scan your gmail inbox with the script I have written: gmail-spamassassin

Download from here: https://github.com/jamespo/commandmi...master/scripts

The accompanying perl module can also be downloaded from there or CPAN
