When I run the configure script for a program I'm trying to build I get an error saying "PACKAGE requires ncurses" but when I use yum to install ncurses it says it is already installed.

I tried using yum to reinstall the ncurses package, but that didn't fix the issue. I have ncurses-5.8-2.20110319.fc15.x86_64 already installed.
Does anyone know what might be the issue?
