./configure:line1349:syntax error near unexpected token 'libdrm'


hi,every body.
when i compile xorg-1.7.2 on debian6 like this:
# ./configure
i get the error:
./configure:line1349:syntax error near unexpected token 'libdrm'
./configure:line1350:PKG_CHECK_EXISTS(libdrm,DRI=yes,DIR=no)
can anyone help me ? thank you

post the bit around line 1349. You can see that with
vim +1349 configure

Why would you use a five year old version of xorg ? ?

( Debian 5 Lenny has version 1.7.3 and Debian 6 : 1.7.5 ).

but i get more error
when i try compile other xorg such as xorg-1.7.5,xorg-1.9.3 get the same error

If you're getting it with every version of X, it could be something with the make tools or libdrm. Weird things like m4 can get you like that.

Explain what your base distro is, and the o/p of
ls /usr/lib/libdrm* /usr/lib64/libdrm*
