./configure and Berkeley DB error

Hello. I've been trying to get KDevelop install on my computer but I keep getting these errors when trying to ./configure

Code:
checking whether yytext is a pointer... yes
checking for docbase... no
checking whether to build the compat lib... no
checking for svn libraries... checking for APR... ./configure: line 32869: apr-config: command not found
./configure: line 32869: /usr/local/apr/bin/apr-config: No such file or directory
found
./configure: line 32884: /usr/local/apr/bin/apr-config: No such file or directory
./configure: line 32885: /usr/local/apr/bin/apr-config: No such file or directory
./configure: line 32886: /usr/local/apr/bin/apr-config: No such file or directory
checking for APR util... ./configure: line 32904: apu-config: command not found
./configure: line 32904: /usr/local/apr/bin/apu-config: No such file or directory
not found
./configure: line 32917: --includes: command not found
./configure: line 32918: --link-ld: command not found
checking for Subversion svn-config... not found
checking for Subversion headers... not found
checking for Subversion libraries... not found
checking for Neon... ./configure: line 33024: neon-config: command not found
not found
checking whether to build the vcs compat lib... no
checking for Berkeley DB >= 3... configure: error: no - please install Berkeley DB >= 3 and <= 4.1
So, I went and downloaded Berkeley DB v4.0.14 and I installed it. But when I went ./configure with KDevelop, I get the same error.

I also tried using Berkeley DB v4.1.25 but I still get the same error.

I also tried using
./configure --with-db-libdir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.1/lib --with-db-includedir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.1/include

but that results to the same error.

How do I check if I installed Berkeley DB properly

Any help on how to fix this will be great, thx.

What distro are you using? Edit your profile and put that in.

if it's an rpm based distro, my guess is that you probably don't have the corresponding devel file for your version berkeley db install.

if you installed berkeley db from source, my guess would be you didn't specify an install path with the --prefix and the default install path would be in /usr/local - in which /usr/local isn't in your search path.

No, I didn't install berkeley with --prefix but I ran

./configure --with-db-libdir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.1/lib --with-db-includedir=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.1/include

when trying to configure KDevelop so shouldn't KDevelop search there? all the libs and includes are there, so i don't understand why KDevelop still says I don't have Berkeley DB
