completely remove a program

I'm having a wierd problem with Xine. I can't get the dvd to work anymore (it just quit on me and I don't know why) I thought i had completely removed it, but then when I reinstalled it I got the same setting i had from my previous install and the same error message. something is wierd and I don't like it. How do i completely remove xine from my computer. I tried the package removal software, but i doesn't feel like it completely took it off.

also, if you have any thoughts on why it won't access my dvd drive anymore, that would be good. It can read the title of the dvd, but then it gives me the 'you may not have enough rights' message. I made the link from hdc to dvd so that it could read, but it's freaking out.

thank you for your help.

i think you cd to the original unpacked directory (where you did the .configure;make;make install)

and i think you type :

make clean

..... i think lol

don't forget to clean out your ~/.xine directory (if you're sure that's what you want). xine keeps some configuration files there -- maybe that's what you are seeing get "recycled."

i saw those configureation files. I guess I'm going to try and delete those directories and try again.

hope i don't screw up.
