compiz fusion isnt working

i installed pclinux os and every thing's working fine so far but the compiz fusion isnt working.....i tried the latest drivers for my radeon 9550 vid card available in synaptic but that doesn't worked either. i tried everything but the compiz fusion wont let me use all their cool features... can anybody help?

post data : i am a complete noob......i didn't knew what linux was since last week so plz keep the linux slang to a minimum so i can understand

Could you enter:
glxinfo | grep direct
in a terminal window. It should say 'direct rendering: yes' if the drivers are working.
How did you install compiz... was it pre-installed? I'm not familiar with PClinuxOS.

In return could you keep the AOL slang to a minimum ('thx, plz...')
