Compiz error: Software Rasterizer in use
Hey guys, I have a problem with compiz. I'm kinda pissed because I didn't have this problem under ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10, but now i have it with 9.04. Anyway, compiz will not work and here's what the compiz-check script comes up with:
Gathering information about your system... Distribution: Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop environment: GNOME Graphics chip: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) Driver in use: intel Rendering method: AIGLX Checking if it's possible to run Compiz on your system... Checking for texture_from_pixmap... [ OK ] Checking for non power of two support... [ OK ] Checking for composite extension... [ OK ] Checking for FBConfig... [ OK ] Checking for hardware/setup problems... [FAIL] There has been (at least) one error detected with your setup: Error: Software Rasterizer in use Any ideas guys? And thanks for your guys time. You guys always beat ubuntuforums. They take forver to reply back! |
same problem
I am searched for a solution to this issue. It seems on some laptops and graphics cards, most cases Intel chipsets. I read of a solution but it has not worked yet for me.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...iz/+bug/270122 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1018240 http://forlong.blogage.de/entries/pages/Compiz-Check I'm looking at these sites for answers. WhatI have come up with isyou have to manually edit the xorg.conf file by doing this command: sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf Narrowing it down to a resolution issue. Let me know if you get it because I can't run compiz either. |

Back to your problem though. Compix running under XGL was the only way I got compiz running at all on my PS3. I have 9.04 running on my emachines, and compiz runs great. What distro and version are you on? |
I have the same problem. Brand new computer, brand new graphics card. If someone figures this one out please post the solution here.

Linux Mint 7 (Gloria), worked fine on a desktop with same distro, just this laptop doesn't seem to work correctly.
