Compiz, drivers, n' things

Hello,

I am very much a debian guy and have typically ran ubuntu on my workstations (debian stable for servers). I decided to migrate my ubuntu laptop to debian for some crazy reasons I'll never understand (I jump OS's a lot).

Moving to Debian caused my wireless card and my usb bus to stop functioning. Rather than fix it, I said w/e and tried OpenSUSE since I heard it is aimed at production stuff and I've been doing a lot of that lately.

I just want to say that openSUSE had some great looking things like High Availability available through the gui right out of the box.. Pretty nice. However, it felt like it had more control over my box than I did, so I went back to Ubuntu where I left off.

Since I still wanted something new, I just installed MATE and configured compiz for wobbly windows and a desktop cube. I must say that I feel right at home here.

I guess I said all of that to say this: Debian stable is great for flexible, stable servers, *suse seems great for production, but also seems slow and clunky, and Ubuntu seems to be most suited for desktops.

I started to post this in the distro sub-forum, but since it involves multiple distros, I put it in software.

Thanks for listening,

biosboy4
