compiling mrtg

Hello,
I have been using MRTG on windows for several months. I am now trying to install on linux. I have followed the instrustions on the unix-document but when configuring it gets as far as 'check for gd.h... yes' and stops. I have the gd library installed, the gd.h is there and there are no shared library's..
any suggestion on what to look for would be great.

regards

eishv

Can mrtg be setup to a particular server only rather than to a router?

I am trying to setup the mrtg on one of the linux server. We have a switch but I am not sure of the switch name

I have compile the mrtg and stuck in the configuration steps .From the manual,

cfgmaker --global 'WorkDir: /home/httpd/mrtg' \
--global 'Options[_]: bits,growright' \
--output /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg \
community@router.abc.xyz

What should I use as the config file if it is possible to install the mrtg to just a particular server.( I would like to use the server IP to browse the mrtg graph ).I would like to monitor server bandwidth usage only as the datacenter had provided us the mrtg graph on the switch.

Thanks,

I think mrtg doesn't work with switch. You must run mrtg with the devices that support SNMP(doesn't switch?)
