Compiling mpeglib without optimisations

As many of you may have heard, there is a problem either with mpeglib being broken or gcc not compiling optimisations properly for kde installations above 3.2.2 (or something similar).

You can view the bug on kde bugs with
id=80497

I cant post the url... (restrictions) sorry.

Now, my problem is that i am unsure of how to recompile mpeglib with the -O0 flags.

I have tried the following:

OPTIMIZE=-O0 ./configure
make
make install

I have done this for kdemultimedia, and arts - but neither of these yield any useful results.

Could somebody please assist me to fix my audio issues!!!

Thanks in advance,
Seb
