compiling gcc 4.5.2 without libiberty

HI,

i'm compiling a GNU toolchain and i'm wondering why both binutils and gcc are compiling and providing the same library libiberty ....

the question is , how can i disable the building of a second libiberty in gcc and just keep the one from binutils ?
or keep the one from gcc .....eitherway i only want to compile libiberty once.

any thoughts?

You can definitely use the libiberty from binutils, and skip the one from gcc. Others do it, too. As the link to LinuxFromScratch states, you can skip the gcc libiberty by running
Code:
sed -i 's/install_to_$(INSTALL_DEST) //' libiberty/Makefile.in
before running configure .
