Compiling Apache, MySQL, Perl & PHP

I would like to install a new version of apache on the SuSE 8.1 server at work.

The Apache webserver that came with SuSE 8.1 is already installed. So I need to update it.

I would like to compile Apache together with PHP, Perl & MySQL.

Now what is the correct course of action? So which things should I do first and which things after that?

Just remove the exising versions then follow a tutorial such as:
http://lamps.efactory.de/e-index.shtml

Moved: Linux -> Software
