Compiled alsa-1.0.6, how to make mdk use it?

I'm using Mandrake 10 with alsa 1.0.2. I compiled Alsa-1.0.6 and everything went fine but how do I start the new version?
'service -f alsa' still starts the 1.0.2 version, but 'alsamixer' does show the 1.0.6 version.

Any ideas on how to start alsa-1.0.6?
