compile kernel when lilo.conf doesn't locate /etc...

Hi, I have 2 hardisk and 3 OS.

hda winxp
hdb1 mdk 9.2 with lilo.conf at /etc
hdb2 slack 10 without lilo

tonight i was trying to compile my slack 10 kernel, the steps were basically following:
1) make xconfig
2) make dep
3) make clean
4) make bzImage
5) make modules
6) make modules install

and while doing modules install, i got this error msg:

warning: kernel is too big for standalone boot from floppy
sh -x ./install.sh 2.4.26 bzImage /usr/src/linux-2.4.26/System.map ""
+ '[' -x /root/bin/installkernel ']'
+ '[' -x /sbin/installkernel ']'
+ '[' -f /vmlinuz ']'
+ '[' -f /System.map ']'
+ cat bzImage
+ cp /usr/src/linux-2.4.26/System.map /System.map
+ '[' -x /sbin/lilo ']'
+ /sbin/lilo
/etc/lilo.conf: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.26/arch/i386/boot'
make: *** [install] Error 2

now... should i gnore that error msg, and copy the image to /etc/mdk/etc/lilo.conf, or should I re-do my kernel compile again, but with some kindda path points lilo.conf to /etc/mdk/etc ?
this is my first time compile secondary kernel at the same hardisk. and it gets quite interesting, heheh

thank you

Well make sure you have hdb1 mounted, first of all. And it looks like it was trying to install the kernel, not the modules. It's "make modules_install", not "make modules install", note the underscore.

you have to copy your kernel image to your /boot and add the required entries in lilo
Most probably lilo is not installed properly
