Compile, Install Java Runtime Environment without X-Windows

Hi there,
I am running Core Linux which is a bit of a 'self-build' distro.
I've now come to the point where I'd like the JRE installed but I'm obviously not on a supported platform and I just want the JRE for command-line, server-side processing. I don't want any AWT/Swing work and in fact X-Windows is not even installed.

So will I be able to compile/install JRE or am I asking for too much?
Anyone know of any instructions out there that might help me, I've been googling but without much luck.
I'm after JRE 1.4.2 if possible (rather than 1.5).

Thanks in advance,
r

You should be able to use links or links2 to download it;
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
It has a installer;
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/jre/install-linux.html
I have used the installer and it is from the terminal.
