Or at least I would assume it to be the codecs:

Roommate is complaining of choppy video with hulu so I tried to find codecs for linux but am comming up with nothing but exe's.

Any ideas?

It'a fedora 11.

hulu uses flash, if its choppy chances are its a video issues, or not enough ram/cpu to run it properly.

There shouldn't be any video or cpu/ram issues seeing as I used to mix music with this thing back when I was running xp.

The package manager didn't have any relevant codec packages.

What exactly does Compiz-Fusion do and why am I better for not using it? The wiki didn't tell me much.

I'm not sure which media player is my default as I have not used one yet and therefore I believe that information to be a bit irrelevant in this case.

I am searching those links you gave me.

Thanks for the help so far and I hope I can figure this thing out.

Any more ideas?

Compiz does all of those little desktop effects you may have seen on the web. Like the desktop that looks like a cube rotating around, or how windows wiggle a bit when you drag them across the screen, or how things look like they are being sucked into the panel when you minimize them. To be honest it is a bunch of graphical fluff that creates an overhead that a lot of things do not play well with.

Flash is one of those things that does not play well with Compiz. There is a way to fix it by modifying you /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but I have yet to see a straight forward how to guide on it. Personally I disable it on my PC even though I have a video card and a system that could easily support it.
