ok, i finally got past the 'returning from prom_init' error, but now i have another problem. Im trying to load a cross linuxfromscratch on an ibook G4. After the kernel loads, INIT starts and "populating /proc /sys" and "setting the console log level to 7" all work fine. But then, "Creating /dev in tmpfs" FAILS! The error is "mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on udev, missing codepage or helper program, or other error". Then "Copying static entries" fails because it says it is a read-only file system. SO... I tried changing in yaboot.conf the root filesystem to a read-write filesystem, and that error was SOLVED. BUT THEN when "starting udevd" i get the error "udevd[1078]: init_udevd_socket: error getting socket: Address family not supported by protocol". I think that this may be my foremost problem, whatever it means...

could anyone please help me?

Perhaps we could, if you told us anything useful about your situation......you don't say much about your hardware, what version of Linux you're trying to load, or what you did to get past the other error.

EDIT: After chasing down your previous post, where you mention the ibook G4, if you Google for this, there are lots of very clear docs on how to install Linux...

ok nevermind... i got it all to boot! It turns out that tmpfs filesystems were not enabled in the kernel! Unfortunately, i now am having issues with my keyboard... Please see my other post!
