Clean out HD

Hey folks,

Now can I reset my laptop HDD to default? I used Gparted and tried on deleting every single partition but the damn Kurumin Linux booting screen is showing up (which mean the HDD didn't format completely) but there is no installed kernel so it just goes to a black screen (After 10 seconds >.<)

Any recommendations?

Deleting partitions doesn't clean out the MBR (master boot record), the boot sector of the drive.

Hi.

I have used Gparted to write a new "label" which will clean out the MBR ... cheers, makyo

How do you define default. If you do boot from this HDD then there has to be the boot code on the MBR. Installing an OS usually includes installing some boot loader which will overwrite the previous one.
If you do not boot from this HDD then it doesn't matter what's on the MBR.
