I am to install an antivirus on my linux pc to deploy onto other computers...i need to find a free a.virus and install it onto my computer and show it to my boss....
I heard clam was the best one to use, is this true?? And if so can someone please tell me where and how to install/configure it...i am terrible at this programming business!! Thanks Lauren p.s. i am running linux RedHat 9.0 |
If you use linux, viruses should really not be too much of an issue. Depending on your distro, you're either going to be getting 99% of your binaries from trusted sources (package repositories) or by compiling them directly from the source. Second, as long as you're not running root all the time, a virus should not be a problem, as the only thing it can wipe out is your home directory (which you should be regularly backing up anyway).
That being said, I myself don't run any AV software myself, but the installation should be pretty self explanatory. Download the source, then follow the instructions given in the file INSTALL (thats what its usually called anyway). |

Actually, you are not the first to tell me that...soo with that being said i emailed my boss today and said this to him, so, we will see what he says....maybe, hopefully, he will say to forget the installation of an antivirus!! haha
Thank you! |
