Civ IV Wine very non responsive

Basically, every time I try to play Civ IV, it takes a while to finish setting up the game, and then once it does, it becomes very non-responcive. Additionally, some of the graphics like the leaders don't show up.

I followed all the instructions here: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=10158

I'm using wine 1.5 and Civ IV Complete. Also, it wouldn't let me install the patches for the orignal or Warlords, but it would for Beyond the Sword.

What's wrong with my setup.
