cinnamon won't start from KDM in fedora 16
 

hi,

i am happily running Fedora 16 with KDE and i thought i'd give cinnamon a try (a new gnome 2.x clone by the mint tribe).

it installed correctly; but when i select cinnamon in the session type the kdm wallpaper flickers once, i get dropped to console for a second (there are error messages but i cant seem to get to them in any way) and then i'm back to kde.

any ideas?

I run various machines and recently ran into this problem. I did notice one thing... When I initially loaded cinnamon I had installed several extensions. Later I had to reinstall cinnamon and noticed they changed the packages that where available, (no independent extension packages) and I have the same situation (except gnome) you can select it as an option, but the gnome desktop loads anyway.

Tomorrow I'm going to see if another system behaves the same way. I'll know if after updating cinnamon it fails to load the desktop?

i shall try in my funtoo install soon to see if its just fedora
