Chrooting Apache 2?

I want to install Apache 2 on my server, but I want it chrooted!

Has anyone managed to get the damn thing to compile with a custom layout? I just get an error, but it will compile using the default layout.

Also, I want to use it to serve plain html and images. No special features, no PHP, no server-generated pages or anything. I DO however need to be able to restrict access with .htaccess and .htpasswd files. With this in mind, which modules should I enable/disable?

Awaiting blissful silence, much like the apache mailing list...
