Angry Chinese displayed but not printed

I can see Chinese characters properly display on my Mandrake 9.1 system, e.g. in Konqueror or Kmail or Kwrite; I can even input Chinese by activating FCITX, but when I sent the page for printing, the Chinese characters turn out to be rectangles standing on their short sides.
Being a user of my Linux system rather a programming guru, my son living in another country set up the system for, I don't know what other info to provide to ask for a solution.
Thanks.
