Well I am sure everyone here knows all about checkinstall, but I just used it for the first time. Wow, it is amazing! All kinds of options and such to use with it. I was wondering why some programs won't install with checkinstall and how do you know other than trying?
The Checkinstall command only executes "make install", so if a program needs more than that, it will not work. The best way to find out is to either try it (all temp files are removed, so no problems) or to read the INSTALL file.
