There is no gret reason to reinstall a linux OS? I'm use to it, mostly because I reinstalled windows XP a lot, but I haven't seen myself redoing linux as often.

Well, there is one more reason - to upgrade libc+cc.. No, it doesn't need downtime more than a reboot, but still it is reinstall..

But not everybody "update" their libc+cc every day..maybe I said it without being sharp enough; I was actually thinking the kind of reinstalling (the reasons) people do with Windows when it's been working for a year or so and is getting wrecked from every corner without a visible reason, and more importantly, a working fix.

Doesn't SLES / OES come with YAST? If so, use it, should be a breeze then...

Symmetric Multi Processor support. Also, as I remember, can sometimes work with processors with more than one core. It is usually included by vendors, as many other options that do little harm but can be needed on some hardware.
