chat software


I wish to install a fast chat server and a browser based chat client. I would like to know if anyone has tried to evaluate one and can reccommend a good one.

Jabber is used in the company I work for - mainly because it works on Windows and is configurable. Obviously, it is also a Linux program - so you would be able to offer compatibility.
