Character trouble over samba

When I mount my home directory at the university at home, most is fine, but files that contain norwegian characters do not show properly in konqueror. fstab contains the options iocharset=iso8859-1 and codepage=850, but no help. the machine serving home directories runs linux. mapping the directory at school in windows is fine, and reading the files from commandline or mc also works fine. usually, if I really need a file, I end up renaming it, which is awkward.

at home I run mandriva 2006.

anyone know how to fix this?

Basically, the same fonts should be on all computers. If you are also using Windows, then TrueType fonts are prefered.
Standard fonts should be used which are:
LINUX WINDOWS
Helvetica - Arial
Times - Times New Roman
Courier - New Courier

Making other people use these fonts is another matter! Not much you can do about that!

Commandline and mc use a fixed font, so they don't much care what the original font was.
