Changing Sendmail Domain On Mandrake 9.1

Hi, I'm a Linux newbie(although a veteran Windows user, and I'm comfortable both in the Windows CMD and the bash shell), and I need help configuring sendmail.

I don't have a domain name of my own, but sendmail issues a warning about the hostname localhost whenever I run it. I'd rather use someone else's SMTP server, but my ISP has left me in the cold, so I need to run my own. I've noticed emails bouncing also, when I send email through sendmail; I think this may or may not be related to the localhost domain.

I tried setting it in the config file yesterday, and it worked. However, my email kept bouncing. I decided to leave it till today. However, I forgot to note where the config file was, and now I'm not sure what to do.

I searched the forum, and found that there should be an /etc/mail directory, but I do not have it. I also do not have the sendmail.cf file, either in /root or in my home directory.

I tried using locate on bash to find it, but all it turned up was documentation and PHP scripts for my webpage development.

Can anyone help?

Gah, doesn't anybody know the answer to my question? I picked up Linux because then I wouldn't have to call M$ or anyone else and waste my time and money being put on hold. Seems the same is happening here. Oh, well, at least an SMTP server comes by default on Linux.
