Change runlevel


I need to change the resolution becuase my monitor goes into standby at startup...but when I try to run sax2 I need to be in runlevel 3...how do I switch to it?

Change to a console...
[crtl][alt][[F2], for example,...

login as root from that console.
type:
init 3

Then run SAX2,...
Then to get back to runlevel 5, type:
init 5
at the console.
