Change letters to Unicode numbers in OpenOffice documents

In M$ Word, if you press Alt+X, the letter behind the cursor will become a Unicode hexadecimal string. Where is that functionality in OpenOffice.org Writer?

There is no such functionality, but you are free to write a macro. If you open the special characters menu bar, each character displays it's unicode hex equivalent when you click it.
