Chain from PXE to WDS

Hi all !

I do have a WDS server up and running from years. I now want to install a PXE server for deploying Linux images. This works.

My problem is : I can not chain a PXELinux entry to my WDS server.

Here is the revelant part of my conf :

LABEL win
kernel installers/windows/pxechain.com
append wds.company.com::boot\\x86\\wdsnbp.com

When I select this entry, I got :

TFTP Boot : wds.company.com::boot\\x86\\wdsnbp.com
Downloaded WDSNBP
Contacting server: pxelinux.company.com
No response from Windows Deployment Services server.
Launching pxeboot.com
TFTP download failed

Any help very welcome !

I know I have seen more than a few examples of this but your FQDN parts kind of worry me. See this first. http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/WDSLINUX

If you do need to use wan then you may have to use gpxe/ipxe instead. That is where I am confused.

Hi Jefro,

My FQDN is just there to obfuscate a little bit what I consider as sensitive informations.

These FQDN resolves as private IPs on all involved computers (WDS, PXELinux and client)

BTW, using FQDN or IP addresses does not change anything

Jefro,

Sorry for not responding before today. I was not available for this.

I actually saw your link. Whant I want to do is the exact opposite. Chaining WDS from Linux. The solution provided by your link is not acceptable for me.

thanks
