CentOS 6.2 can't start with KDE desktop.
Greetings all,
I’m a basically a newbie and I just installed CentOS 6.2. I made provisions to be sure to install the KDE desktop but when the install was complete and I rebooted the system started in a shell and I didn’t get the KDE desk top as I would have liked to. Can you advise what changes in the system I have to make in order to get the KDE desktop at startup. Thanks BTW, I’m running this in VMware Workstations 8 if that has anything to do with it. |
I'm still pretty much a newbie myself :)
I have KDE and XFCE installed as desktop environments with Mint 12. I can choose between them at the login screen. Maybe you have a similar option with your OS? I don't think it matters if you're running Linux in a virtual machine. The version of Mint I've installed was with KDE. I've installed XFCE later on. |
Thanks but not much help here.
I need to know where to make any changes in order go get the KDE desktop at boot time and not a shell which looks like the default. I don't believe there is any difference with 6.2 and my old 5.3 which some one else helped install. That's why I don't know where to start here. Can anyone else help out here. Thanks |
