CentOS 5/RHEL 5 ipsec. Is OpenSwan necessary on a 2.6.18x kernel?
Hi, I'm confused about a simple thing. Is it necessary to install OpenSwan/StrongSwan just to be able to connect to an Ipsec router for a LAN to LAN scenario?
The reason I ask is I managed to configure & connect using /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-sec0 and raccoon. So what will installing OpenSwan on top of this accomplish? Is OpenSwan needed just for setting up the ipsec server part as opposed to being just a client which the built-in modules in the kernel can already handle? Thank you for taking the time with this silly Q.:o Cheers! Sam. |
