Centos 5.2 Live Cd - X Locks Up
hello, i am having a prob with centos 5.2 live cd. it boots fine all the way to the desktop. then when i try to do something with it, it will lock up. the mouse still works but the screen gets garbled like X is locking up. so i retry and hit tab at the loader just like it says to edit the line and put in "linux vga=1024x768" or " vga=773" or "vga=1204x768" or variations of both. i need to boot vesa or vga and not nvidia. am i missing something? is there a diff command?
thanks in advance! |
This could be a driver problem. I had a similar problem with a nVidia card, solved by installing the proprietary driver.
However to use a VESA driver to boot up try video=vesa with your other parameters. Good luck. |
thanks skyeye but no dice. still does the same thing. i even went with the text installer and started it with runlevel 5. i tried "video=vesa 1024x768" at the tab option at the very end of the boot line. i have used ubuntu, suse, mandriva with no probs, live or installer. i just can't get redhat/fedora/centos to run properly on this box. i just need to find a way to disable nvidia and use vesa/vga safe mode until i get it running. thanks.
