cdwriter and locking under kde
Hello,
My cdwriter's drive light keeps flashing, and I can't write to it because no program can get a lock on it. It's been.. a while since my last reboot, so I can't tell you exactely what I've changed. The only 2 changes that seem relevant are: I installed k3b (a cd write app, really nice), and I configured automout. The changes didn't happen instantly, I had to reboot for this to manifest itself. I've rebooted since but to no avail (2 reboots/month.. that's bad :P) It only happens when running kde. Automount is killed, and not running. The only way to make it stop is to put in a cd wtih things on it, a blank cd doesn't do the trick. I don't need to mount the cd for it to stop blinking. Is there any way to see what's accessing /dev/cdrom1 ? Or.. has this happened to anyone else? (Running RH 9, it's a Teac drive) I'm going to try my knoppix cd in the morning to make sure my drive isn't going bananas.. but I doubt it. Thanks |
Figured it out.. sorry..
I updated kde too and with it the KDE cd-r watcher.
I think it's a bug in it, since it should stop when it sees media, even if it's invalid. I'll look into the code.. sorry for posting the thread, but I figure since it's there I might as well answer it myself, for future reference if others have the same problem. T'Eval |
