cdrom emulator?

hi
I was wondering is there is a tool in Linux that can emulate an IDE cdrom from an iso file like the way Daemon Tools does under Windows.

Yes, I know about loopback device, I am not looking for something to mount the image, but to actually emulate the device.

Thank you.

There is no difference in linux. All that really matters here is that it is mounted in the place that cdroms are usually mounted.

Thank you for your reply, but I need an emulator because VMware needs to access it directly, and the VMware built in emulator is problematic in my case as suggested by other people.

(They suggested using D-Tools on windows and set VMware to use that emulated "Physical" drive.)

Use an ISO

VMWare can use an ISO as the base of a fake disk drive. Goto the device configure screen.
