Cdrom/dvdrom Combo

I Recently Purchased A Toshiba Satellite Laptop. I Tried To Load My Pc Cd Sims 2 Game, Which Consist Of 4 Disc. My Laptop Is Dual Cdrom/dvdrom. Whenever I Get To The 4th Disc, It Won't Complete The Installation, It Just Sits There. Eventually The Error Message Reads Program Not Responding. I Then Purchased The Pc Dvd Special Edition In Which I Was Finally Able To Load The Program. Now I Am Trying To Load The Expansion Packs (unibersity And Night Life) Which Only Come Pc Cd. They Consist Of 2 Disc And I Am Having The Same Problem With These. It Will Load The First Disc And Then Just Stops With The Same Error Message. Any Suggestions?

I've had similar issues like this before but with different games. Try copying the CD to your hard disk before you start the installation. Once all the CD's are copied start the installation from the files on your hard disk. That just might work. What are you using to install the game? Wine? Cedega? If it's either one of those I would go and check their respective websites for install tips because it is quite possible then someone else could be having the same issues that you are having.

Since this is the "Linux - Software" forum I'd love to know... Is there a version of Sims 2 for Linux?

Centinul You Are Absolutely Brilliant. Just Wanted To Let You Know That Your Method Allowed Me To Load Both Expansion Packs (university And Night Life). Thanks.

For The Question Of Linux Version Of Sims 2, I'm New To This Site, So I'm Sorry I Don't Have An Answer For You. But I'm Sure Someone Out There Knows And Will Answer You Soon.

shirley55666 thanks for the comment :) I'm always glad to help!

gilead -- To my knowledge there is not a native linux port for Sims 2 in linux. I would also love to know because I would like to play it as well. At this point in time I believe Sims 2 may possibly be playable in WINE and may have limited functionality in Cedega. I haven't really given either a shot to be honest. I hope this helps!

Thanks for that - I guess I'll have to keep waiting or bite the bullet and try wine :)
